Well, I assume that I am not the only one that wrestles my little boy in Sacrament Meeting and tries every week to come up with something new to capture his attention and keep him happy and quietly engaged. So...I thought I would share a few items I've found helpful or that I hope to find helpful in the future. Enjoy!
Gospel ABC Cards - "These cards are designed to help your little ones be reverent during Sacrament Meeting or something similar. Just print them, laminate, and punch a hole in the corner. Put a metal ring clip through the hole to hold them together." - Found on Sugardoodle.net
~I just printed these and put them in a binder in sheet protectors. My little boy loves that they are personalized with pictures of us, grandparents, and him.
Gospel ABC Book - "I have taken Ann's idea and added pictures, so you can make your own or just print this one! You will just need to add your own pictures in a few spots." ~Liz at The Idea Door

I have three young children ages 3.5, almost 2, and an infant. The things we have found to be the most helpful are as follows. 1)all activities have to wait until after the sacrament AND be gospel related. 2) In the event that we have to take one of the two older children out because the are being to wild, we have a firm no play rule. We find an unused class room and the child has to sit on my (or my husbands) lap. The first few times they scream and fight to get down, but it only takes a few times for them to learn that sitting reverently with a book or other quiet item is much better then no toys/no moving around in an empty class room. We learned to do this from a talk given by a member of the seventy. It has helped a ton! 3)The children must stay seated! They can occasionally switch seats with another child, etc to help them be more reverent. But no standing by the bench or turning around to look at other children, etc.

I have a 9,8,7,5,3,3 year old boys. The last 2 being twins. My husband has been Bishop for almost 2 years. So I have been sitting by myself for a while. (Actually a widow sits with us, but daddy doesn't sit with us.) Each of my boys have their own little canvas bags (Wal-Mart $1 each) that they can put a coloring book or paper and some crayons in. When our children turn 8, they can only take scriptures and The Friend magazine. Anyhow, it seems the simpler the packing, but smoother Sacrament goes. I believe they are over stimulated if there is too much to do. Periodically I'll pick one of the younger boys to go sit on daddy's lap for closing song and hymn if they behaved really well. The other boys are rewarded with gift certificates from home (our reward system) if they sing the hymns, are not distracting, etc. We have (and it wasn't easy) taught ALL the kids that sitting, facing forward is how we sit during the meeting. No laying on the ground or kneeling and coloring on the benches. That seems to have helped maintain reverence. Thanks for all your great ideas! Keep it up!
