Suggestions?

So I need your help...I need your help in the form of comments on this post. I am just reflecting on where this blog is right now and where I would like it to be. I am still not sure about the latter. I don't know where exactly I would like it to be and that is where you come in.

I would love to hear your suggestions of what types of posts you would like to see, what you would like to see more of, and what you think would make my blog easier to use or navigate.

I receive several searches each month like: "becoming a mormon", "the process of becoming LDS", and "joining the LDS church". I want to make sure that I can guide these individuals in the right direction.

I would love suggestions both from or for members and seekers alike.

Please comment with your suggestions, ideas, or concerns. Or if you would feel more comfortable you can email me at becominglds@yahoo.com Thanks so much!

I appreciate you asking. I understand your quandry. If it were me - I would ask the Lord and go with that impression. You are doing the work of the Lord, and have the right to get an answer as to how he would want it done. I just know anytime I have have said "What do you guys think I should do" - it leaves me tosssed.
But that's just me. Hopefully, someone will say something that will trigger it for you. Just stay in tune! You'll do great! I love your blog!

I really love some of the resources that you put out there to help me find ways to "use" the gospel more in my family. I think that any non-member who came across those materials would be impressed with the goodness and principles they teach. Perhaps (for the seekers who find your blog through searching), you could created some Pages on your blog --with obvious links from the main page of your blog-- that literally explain "becoming a mormon", "the process of becoming LDS", and "joining the LDS church" and such, with plenty of links to mormon.org, how to contact the missionaries, order a video, etc. It could be a great tool to get investigators pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for all of your comments so far.

Stephanie, your comment was spot on. I actual wrote a post with all of those types of links in the past. I had a link to it on the side of my blog but I don't think it was super obvious that it was a link. I just finished adding the new link when I read your comment. Perfect timing. I hope that it is more noticable now.

I hope that eventually the links will make it to a bar on the top of my page. We'll see. I am still tinkering.

Keep the comments coming everyone.

I think even more general topics that people of all faiths can relate to would be good, it helps when they can realize the we aren't some off the wall religion, and see that our beliefs are very much the same.
It might also bring more people in if it's a "general" topic, they would read it with more of an open mind. I don't know I'm not good at blogging...I don't do it as much as I "should" because I always end up writing about something that makes me cry.

Christa,

When you say general topics are you meaning general religious topics like faith and prayer or general life kind of topics?

Just curious of exactly what you mean. Specifics would be awesome.

Thanks!

To me, "Becoming LDS" really means "how to be converted." So articles about the basic principles of the gospel seem to fit. But I think you're doing a great job!

yes, that's exactly what I mean, even family, way to strengthen your marriage, tithes, things like that. Things that are not souly LDS, but you can keep posting those too. I just think it's nice to kindly point out to people that we aren't all that "different" without coming out and saying "We aren't all that 'different". I have found that many people (despite what their preacher, or minister says) have always felt a certain way about something, like about children being innocent, or even the pre-existence but never talk about it until they realize that we believe in those things. I don't think I'm making any sense, it's late. If I confused you I'll fix it on Monday I'm sorry.

Thank you all so much for sharing your thoughts. I will take everything that has been shared into consideration. Don't expect any huge changes but I think my thoughts have been directed to some great ideas and topics - thankst...plan to see some of what you have seen in the past with some of your ideas added into the mix.

Any more thoughts or ideas are welcome.

You should write more of your own experiences and tie those into the Gospel Principles (and video's, etc) that you are highlighting.
Right now the blog is a little dry (sorry) but there is just not alot of heart in it.
There is already a main church website which is the best resource for those looking to find out about the church. Your blog should be a more personal take from your perspective - that is what will make it interesting and draw readers.
